English Assessment : Movie Review

Hello guys, right now i will tell you about my movie review. I will tell you about The A-Team movie.

Synopsis :
Four American soldiers who are in Iraq are sent on a mission to recover plates for printing 100 dollar bills that were used to print a billion dollars. After doing the job and returning to the base their commanding officer is killed in an explosion and the plates are stolen by another operative. They would be court martialed and sent to different prisons. 6 months later, the leader, Hannibal Smith is visited by a CIA spook who tells him he knows where the man who took the plates is and wants him and his men to recover it. So he helps him escape and he breaks out the others and they go after the plates. But after doing it, they discover that the spook might not be ok. And a military intelligence officer who was involved with one of them is pursuing them.

The Main Cast :
- Liam Neeson as Hannibal
- Bradley Cooper as Face
- Jessica Biel as Charissa Sosa
- Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. Baracus
- Sharlto Copley as Murdock
- Patrick Wilson as Lynch
- Gerald McRaney as General Morrison

For me, this movie is fun to watch. Why? Because of its very unorthodox ways of fighting. Example is when those four guys trying to escape in a exploding plane, they go inside a tank and try to guide it so they can fall on a lake. And it got a comedy too, so its not that boring. Well that's my review thank you for reading. Bye.

English Assignment : Inspiring Stories

Chris Gardner Homeless To Happyness

When Chris Gardner talks about homeless people, his words resonate; he has walked in their shoes. He knows what it’s like just trying to survive.
“Remember these are still people,” he says. “They are not invisible. They each have a story.”
In his lifetime, the successful against-all-odds stockbroker who inspired the Academy Award-nominated The Pursuit of Happyness has accomplished many things—overcoming a violent childhood, rising out of homelessness, being a single father who broke the cycle of abuse with his children. Yet his story is much more than one of accumulating wealth and overcoming adversity. And he never forgets his past or the people who’ve touched his life.
In San Francisco in the early 1980s, Gardner earned a meager living selling medical supplies. He got the idea to pursue a career as a stockbroker from a man in a red Ferrari he met one day. Gardner said he’d let the man have the parking spot he was vacating if he would tell him what kind of work he did to afford the car. The man was a stockbroker.
Although Gardner lacked a college degree, and the pedigree and social connections for any white-collar job, he knocked on doors for several months and finally landed a spot in the Dean Witter Reynolds training program. The trainee’s stipend barely paid for food, let alone rent. Meantime, his girlfriend left him and their toddler, Chris Jr. With determination, Gardner clung to his goal of financial independence, working hard during the day while spending his nights trying to arrange for child care, food and shelter. When they were lucky enough to find space, they slept at the Glide Memorial Church shelter; otherwise, they huddled in a locked bathroom at an Oakland subway station. At the conclusion of the training program, Gardner was the sole trainee chosen for a permanent position with Dean Witter Reynolds.
“Staying motivated isn’t a challenge for me,” he says today. “When I think about all I want to accomplish, despite all my successes, I haven’t even made a dent in what’s possible. Opportunity is as vast as the sky.”
After a couple years with Dean Witter Reynolds, he took a position with Bear Stearns & Co., where he became a top earner. In 1987, he founded his own brokerage firm, Gardner Rich & Co., in Chicago, which he since transformed into Christopher Gardner International Holdings, an institutional brokerage firm that also directs projects overseas, primarily in South Africa.
With dreams as big as the sky, Gardner now looks to his children for inspiration, but walking the line between personal and professional obligations is sometimes a challenge. “I continually plead for understanding from my family and the people I love,” he says. “I am so passionate about what I do that personal time tends to get filled by business. It makes me happy, but can get exhausting. There are days when I just need to take off and check out. No calls, no e-mails. Just downtime.”
Always trying to make the most of every minute in business, Gardner developed one ironclad rule: “Always be on time,” he says. “And if possible, be aggressively early. Whatever meeting you have to cut short, even if you have to run those last five blocks, get there on time. Being late projects the wrong image and makes people lose faith in your ability to prioritize.”
Now, Gardner is more acutely aware that time is “the ultimate luxury,” he says. “At a certain point there are more yesterdays than tomorrows. So, I plan on spending all my tomorrows very carefully and appreciating every one of them.”
For the present, Gardner still basks in the afterglow of his 2006 best-selling autobiography and the movie it inspired starring Will Smith. He’s at work on a second book and in the process of forming a foundation to assist with such problems as homelessness and domestic abuse. He is actively involved in giving back on a local level, and still gives as much as he can to Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco. “There wouldn’t be a Chris Gardner today if there wasn’t a Glide back then,” he says.
Some of his favorite projects include the Chicago-based CARA program, which offers comprehensive job training, permanent job placement and supportive services to homeless and at-risk populations. The Cara Program administers Cleanslate, a transitional jobs program in which participants learn critical work and life skills as they perform neighborhood beautification projects. In addition, Gardner is active in Peace Over Violence, a Los Angeles social-service agency working to prevent violence against women and children. “Giving back when you are successful should not be seen as an obligation; it’s a privilege,” he says. He also shares his story as a motivational speaker all over the world.
Over time, the many people who have touched Gardner’s life have helped bring his successes to fruition—from his aunts and uncles who helped raise him to the stockbroker with the red Ferrari who gave Gardner his first glimpse at his career dream to the business associates who taught him along the way. But the person he admires most is his mother. She endured hardships of her own, including a lifetime of domestic abuse and a prison term for trying to burn down the house with Gardner’s abusive step-father inside, he says.
Gardner says he inherited much from his mother—her ability to sit absolutely still when the world seems to be crumbling, her appreciation for public libraries, her devotion to her children, her innate ability to endure.
“I owe so much to my mom, Bettye Jean Gardner, including the moment that got me pointed in the right direction,” he says. “I was a kid, watching a college basketball game on TV, and one of the announcers said that someday one of the best players might make a million dollars. I whistled and said, under my breath, ‘Man, a million dollars!’ And my mother, who was in the next room, said, ‘Son, if you want to, one day you could make a million dollars.’ With that one sentence, she convinced me that in spite of where I came from, I could attain whatever goals I set for myself. That one day I, too, could be world-class at something.”
Gardner also has the same unshakable faith in Chris Jr. and a younger daughter, Jacintha, both in their 20s. The successes of his children have brought him the most joy. “No business success could rival the pride I have in my children,” he says.
Gardner says his greatest achievement is breaking the destructive cycles his children could have inherited. “I was there for my son, so I know he will be there for his children, breaking the cycle of absentee fathers in our family. I have taught him that being a man means being responsible. I have taught my daughter how she deserves to be treated, breaking the cycle of abused and degraded women in our family,” he says.
About the future, Gardner believes the best is yet to come. He knows that through his children he has positively influenced future generations of his family he will never meet. “Hopefully, my legacy and what I’ll be remembered for has not happened yet,” he says. “I don’t want to sit on my laurels. There’s still too much to achieve.”

English Assessment : Natural Disaster

Waterspout

waterspout is an intense columnar vortex (usually appearing as a funnel-shaped cloud) that occurs over a body of water, connected to a cumuliform cloud. In the common form, it is a non-supercell tornado over water. While it is often weaker than most of its land counterparts, stronger versions spawned by mesocyclones do occur. Waterspouts do not suck up water; the water seen in the main funnel cloud is actually water droplets formed by condensation. While many waterspouts form in the tropics, other areas also report waterspouts, including EuropeNew Zealand, the Great Lakes and Antarctica. Although rare, waterspouts have been observed in connection with lake-effect snow precipitation bands.
Waterspouts have a five-part life cycle: formation of a dark spot on the water surface, spiral pattern on the water surface, formation of a spray ring, development of the visible condensation funnel, and ultimately decay.
Formation
Waterspouts exist on a microscale, where their environment is less than two kilometers in width. The cloud from which they develop can be as innocuous as a moderate cumulus, or as great as a supercell. While some waterspouts are strong and tornadic in nature, most are much weaker and caused by different atmospheric dynamics. They normally develop in moisture-laden environments as their parent clouds are in the process of development, and it is theorized they spin as they move up the surface boundary from the horizontal shear near the surface, and then stretch upwards to the cloud once the low level shear vortex aligns with a developing cumulus cloud or thunderstorm. Weak tornadoes, known as landspouts, have been shown to develop in a similar manner. More than one waterspout can occur in the same vicinity at the same time. As many as nine simultaneous waterspouts have been reported on Lake Michigan
Types
Non-tornadic

Waterspouts that are not associated with a rotating updraft of a supercell thunderstorm are known as "non-tornadic" or "fair-weather waterspouts", and are by far the most common type. Fair-weather waterspouts occur in coastal waters and are associated with dark, flat-bottomed, developing convective cumulus towers. Waterspouts of this type rapidly develop and dissipate, having life cycles shorter than 20 minutes. They usually rate no higher than EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, generally exhibiting winds of less than 30 m/s (67 mph). They are most frequently seen in tropical and sub-tropical climates, with upwards of 400 per year observed in the Florida Keys. They typically move slowly, if at all, since the cloud they are attached to is horizontally static, being formed by verticalconvective action instead of the subduction/adduction interaction between colliding fronts. Fair-weather waterspouts are very similar in both appearance and mechanics to landspouts, and largely behave as such if they move ashore.
Tornadic
"Tornadic waterspouts", also accurately referred to as "tornadoes over water", are formed from mesocyclonic action in a manner essentially identical to traditional land-based tornadoes in connection with severe thunderstorms, but simply occurring over water. A tornado which travels from land to a body of water would also be considered a tornadic waterspout. Since the vast majority of mesocyclonic thunderstorms occur in land-locked areas of the United States, true tornadic waterspouts are correspondingly rarer than their fair-weather counterparts in that country. However, in some areas, such as the AdriaticAegean and Ionian seas, tornadic waterspouts can make up half of the total number.
Snowspout
winter waterspout, also known as a snow devil, an icespout, an ice devil, a snonado, or a snowspout, is an extremely rare instance of a waterspout forming under the base of a snow squall. The term "winter waterspout" is used to differentiate between the common warm season waterspout and this rare winter season event. Very little is known about this phenomenon and only six known pictures of this event exist to date, four of which were taken in Ontario, Canada. There are a couple of critical criteria for the formation of a winter waterspout. Very cold temperatures need to be present over a body of water warm enough to produce fog resembling steam above the water's surface. Like the more efficient lake-effect snow events, winds focusing down the axis of long lakes enhance wind convergence and likely enhance their development.
Climatology
Though the majority occur in the tropics, they can seasonally appear in temperate areas throughout the world, and are common across the western coast of Europe as well as the British Isles and several areas of the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea. They are not restricted to saltwater; many have been reported on lakes and rivers including the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence RiverWaterspouts are fairly common on the Great Lakes during late summer and early fall, with a record 66+ waterspouts reported over just a seven-day period in 2003. They are more frequent within 100 kilometers (60 mi) from the coast than farther out at sea. Waterspouts are common along the southeast U.S. coast, especially off southern Florida and the Keys and can happen over seas, bays, and lakes worldwide. Approximately 160 waterspouts are currently reported per year across Europe, with the Netherlands reporting the most at 60, followed by Spain and Italy at 25, and the United Kingdom at 15. They are most common in late summer. In the Northern Hemisphere, September has been pinpointed as the prime month of formation. Waterspouts are frequently observed off the east coast of Australia, with several being described by Joseph Banks during the voyage of the Endeavour in 1770.
Life Cycle
There are five stages to the waterspout life cycle. Initially, a prominent circular, light-colored disk appears on the surface of the water, surrounded by a larger dark area of indeterminate shape. After the formation of these colored disks on the water, a pattern of light and dark-colored spiral bands develop from the dark spot on the water surface. Then, a dense annulus of sea spray, called a cascade, appears around the dark spot with what appears to be an eye. Eventually, the waterspout becomes a visible funnel from the water surface to the overhead cloud. The spray vortex can rise to a height of several hundred feet or more and often creates a visible wake and an associated wave train as it moves. Eventually, the funnel and spray vortex begin to dissipate as the inflow of warm air into the vortex weakens, ending the waterspout's life cycle.
Nautical Threats
Waterspouts have long been recognized as serious marine hazards. Stronger waterspouts can be dangerous, posing threats to water craft, air craft and swimmers. It is recommended to keep a considerable distance from these phenomena, and to always be on alert through weather reports. The United States National Weather Service will often issue special marine warnings when waterspouts are likely or have been sighted over coastal waters, or tornado warnings when waterspouts are expected to move onshore.
Research and Forecasting
Szilagyi Waterspout Index (SWI)
The Szilagyi Waterspout Index (SWI), developed by Canadian meteorologist Wade Szilagyi, is used to predict conditions favorable for waterspout development. The SWI ranges from −10 to +10, where values greater than or equal to zero represent conditions favorable for waterspout development.
International Centre for Waterspout Research (ICWR)
The ICWR is a non governmental organization of individuals from around the world who are interested in the field of waterspouts from a research, operational and safety perspective. Originally a forum for researchers and meteorologists, the ICWR has expanded interest and contribution from storm chasers, the media, the marine and aviation communities and from private individuals.

English Assessment : My Holiday

Well hello guys, right now i will tell you what i do to spent my holiday.

Well, i'm pretty much just playing, sleeping, eating, watching TV, reading, and many more. Actually, i have to tell you about the new Bintaro Mall in Jakarta.

When i go to Bintaro Mall i think its a pretty impressive mall even thought its not big like Trans Studio Mall (for you guys that live in Bandung), Pondok Indah Mall ( the well-known mall in Jakarta). The interior design is pretty impressive. Me and my family do my usual routine when we get to a new mall, see everything first buy later ( its a pretty good routine i must say). When i go to the top floor, something caught my eye. THEY GOT A FREAKING ICE SKATE RING. But sadly, cause we have'nt got much time we cant go ice skate. I only go buy a shilin (a taiwanese snack vendor) and buy bread life with my family. Even thought we cant do much in that mall, i still feel great cause i get to go with my family. I'm sorry i cant post a picture in here cause i did'nt go take a picture in that mall. Hope you guys have a great holiday to.
